Dressage
At Devon
2003 2003 marked another year of a huge and outstanding competition at Dressage At Devon, the largest breed show in North America. Breeders from all over the U.S.A. as well as riders from Canada and other countries descended upon Devon once again to compete for high honors among their peers.
I did not count the number of SWB horses at Devon this year, but it was certainly more than ever before, although the numbers were still small compared to some other breeds. In the open in-hand classes 2 SWB horses placed in the Top 10 and both were bred by Los Alamos Dressage Center. L.A.
Baltic Kharma
Both classes had more than 30 entrants.
Class#:
9 FEI Young Horse Test - 6-year olds
On Friday, Kharma returned to compete in the North American Breeders Championships and Futurity for F.E.I. 6 year old young horses and, unfortunately ran a bit "out of steam", ending up in 4th place. However, her performances did earn her $2000 in prize and futurity money! The class was won by Milan and Zivago and Richmond tied for 2nd. Congratulations to all!! More

L.A.
Baltic Odyssey Cody just won the Pair Horse Classic at the Fair Hill International show Oct. 23-26 where they won both marathon and cones and placed 2nd in dressage driving. We are so proud and delighted with the job Larry Poulin has done with "Cody". They seem to make an outstanding match and we enjoy watching the progress. We also want to acknowledge and thank "Cody's" former owners, Janet Bell and Tom Benson, who bought him from Los Alamos Dressage Center as a youngster for dressage but recognized that he seemed to want to do something else with his life and were wise enough to make the match with Larry Poulin a reality. |
2003 FEI WORLD PAIRS DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIP
"Cody" has always performed exceptionally well in the dressage driving phase and it was Larry's intention to use him for this part of the competition and then to team up his more experienced horses, Camden and Conyer for the maraton and cones. However,
fate dictated differently when Larry's main maraton horse did not travel
well to Europe and was not ready to compete. Although very green to
the sport, "Cody" was needed in all three phases of the competitive
driving competition and poured his heart out to do his best.
Congratulations to all!! |
